Deviation Actions
HELLO PEOPLE I AM HERE.
Classes finished finnaaalllyyyy so that means second year of uni is OVAH.
...Hmmmm. Not quite.
I still have the final project deadline in just over a week, which will continue to keep me busy, but at least I don't have to travel to the city nearly everyday. So I still won't be FULLY returned, but I'll be simmering around more often.
Once I do have everything handed in, I'll be going through messages properly. *cough* Okay, yeah, that's half-true. Guess what, my deviation inbox full of this amazing work from all the people I'm watching has been hovering on the 1000 mark over the last....huh, probably year and a half. I am sick of this huge number sitting there, me thinking that I'll get to commenting on all of them.
Nope. Not gonna happen. Even during the holidays I don't have the enthusiasm to actually sit there for 6+ hours commenting on everything. And I like giving proper critiques SO I will be choosing a bunch of works I reaallyyy want to comment on, and then removing the rest. Just a heads-up so none of you get too disappointed if I never comment on something. Things are only going to get more hectic, and I want a fresh slate.
ON THAT NOTE of things getting more hectic: it's nearing crunch time for me. Career-wise. So I'll be TRYING to tackle lots of projects, whether personal or for local magazines, groups, internships etc. to illustrate as much as possible. Grimmy Comic is really high on that list on the personal side, so fingers crossed I can get something worked out the next couple of months. I'm also thinking of tackling two very short Bionicle-related projects so we'll also see about that. Aaaaand I miiiiight have joined just A COUPLE of tabletop RPGs.....expect a lot of upcoming scribbles of those.
Also, I'll finally get around to uploading my uni stuff. SUPER EXCITING DESIGN STUFF YO....eh I dunno you'll form your own opinions on this very different body of work.
Will I be opening commissions? MeeeeEEHHHybe. I've been sniffing around for how professional illustrators work and I'm not seeing a lot of...let's call it 'growing room' skill wise in personal commissioning. I might open some simple drawing commissions as a 'on-the-side' thing, but I won't be doing a full-blown commission list because, to be honest, those drawings would cost a lot more to produce given how much time I have available and how quickly I need to learn.
I thought this update was gonna be short but there are already five paragraphs so I'll end it here. Tl;dr: I am relieved (and slightly scared!) this semester is finishing.
P.S YES I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE NEW UPDATES ON BIONICLE CLOSELY. I AM VERY PLEASED. MUCH SQUEALING.

Exiting DA, so hop onto my gritty newsletter
Hey! This account has laid dormant for a very long time, but news of what's been going on here reached as far as where I set up shop on Twitter. I won't beat around the bush: I will be closing my account here. It has little to do with AI as a technology or the features DA presented and then corrected. The way they handled the whole debacle with a tone-death roll out, then treated its users with impudence (not a new occurrence, I remember how they talked down to us with their logo design infringement). As a company, I am not confident in their direction, so I don't want to stick around. Out of all platforms I've been on, I was most reluctant to leave DA. It's like throwing a family album in the trash. My first big fanfic and fandom communities came to be here, and I learned so much from my peers when I was a teenager, giving and receiving feedback. I want to preserve as many memories I can, like those hyper-enthusiastic long deviation descriptions with so many emoji (haha), when I
Popping in Briefly and Commissions Open!
Feels a little weird to write a journal entry again...
Hi! I know this is out of place, considering I haven't been around at all and am not uploading anything, but if you care to spare a minute, I'd like to share something I've recently announced! : >
I'll be traveling to New Zealand next month, and opened commissions to cover some of the costs! As of this writing, I have 8 slots left, and just under a week for commission application deadline.
Head over to me Tweet to view the general details!
Please retweet if you can! I would really appreciate it~
Otherwise...
I've been pretty all over the place recently! As you can tell from the p
Considering another Spring Clean
Eyyyy just a heads up, I will be giving my gallery yet another spring clean at some point!
No specific time set for this yet, I just want to 'store' some more old art I don't want sticking around anymore.
This decision is not influenced by anything in particular, it's just something I've been meaning to do for a while.
In the meantime, I've also created an Art Station account.
This is a stand-in portfolio until I can work out how to get my own website to look more impressive and less...starkly awful.
Heads Up, Heading Out-ish
I think many of you will have noticed that my activity on DA has been limited. That's been mostly because of uni, but there's also another reason:
I am not very invested in DeviantArt anymore.
The community so far has been incredible. Over the last...what, 7 years? I've grown so quickly and I don't think I would have without such a supportive group of people. I am grateful for the inspiration I have received so far and my memories are nothing but positive.
But I am now opening a new chapter in my creative ventures and DA unfortunately is not suitable for this chapter. There's very little industry involvement that I can delve into, and the
