Hey! This account has laid dormant for a very long time, but news of what's been going on here reached as far as where I set up shop on Twitter.
I won't beat around the bush: I will be closing my account here. It has little to do with AI as a technology or the features DA presented and then corrected. The way they handled the whole debacle with a tone-death roll out, then treated its users with impudence (not a new occurrence, I remember how they talked down to us with their logo design infringement). As a company, I am not confident in their direction, so I don't want to stick around.
Out of all platforms I've been on, I was most reluctant to leave DA.
It's like throwing a family album in the trash. My first big fanfic and fandom communities came to be here, and I learned so much from my peers when I was a teenager, giving and receiving feedback. I want to preserve as many memories I can, like those hyper-enthusiastic long deviation descriptions with so many emoji (haha), when I go through and delete my uploads.
But I'm positive about moving forward! For many years I was struggling creatively because I was trying to fit an appealing style expectation, and now I'm returning to my roots creating gritty illustrations and comics full of energy and romance.

If you enjoy dark elegance, skeletons, buff and Bionicle, you'll be in the right place. The update schedule is in the air right now, but you'll be sure not to lose out once it gets going. Much of my old art will also be repurposed or re-uploaded, so don't worry about it all disappearing forever.
Why a newsletter? It's the one platform that won't implode by the whims of a company, and has a lot of opportunity to deliver you not just art, but short articles on the genre, recommendations and so forth. Join in and we'll see where it leads us!

Otherwise...
I've been pretty all over the place recently! As you can tell from the pic, I cut my hair late last year, and last weekend I went to a Global Game Jam for the first time! Basically worked crazily in an awesome team building a computer game over a few days. You can check out the game we made on the GGJ website.
And, as usual, I'm working on my comics and looking for creative work. Busy busy busy, but of the good kind.
A belated Happy New Year as well, and hope you're all fairing okay~

Considering another Spring Clean
No specific time set for this yet, I just want to 'store' some more old art I don't want sticking around anymore.
This decision is not influenced by anything in particular, it's just something I've been meaning to do for a while.
In the meantime, I've also created an Art Station account.
This is a stand-in portfolio until I can work out how to get my own website to look more impressive and less...starkly awful.
Heads Up, Heading Out-ish
I am not very invested in DeviantArt anymore.
The community so far has been incredible. Over the last...what, 7 years? I've grown so quickly and I don't think I would have without such a supportive group of people. I am grateful for the inspiration I have received so far and my memories are nothing but positive.
But I am now opening a new chapter in my creative ventures and DA unfortunately is not suitable for this chapter. There's very little industry involvement that I can delve into, and the uploading methods do not suit my workflow so well anymore. And since I need to be more selective with where I spend my energy, I decided DA will no longer be my focus.
That is not to say that I will leave and close my account, though. I will retain my presence here, continue answering to comments and occasionally comment when suitable. I will also continue notifying you on any projects I am working on, whether it be comics, design-related work, or any other big-scale works. Oh yeah, and you'll still see my World of Darkness related things pop up here and there (Emil's shenanigans, essentially) I just won't be uploading my casual artwork and doodles.

Three years have gone by and I have finished my Bachelor degree of Communication Design. It's a little crazy how fast it's gone by, heh.
I am somewhat frazzled and excited right now so I have nothing productive to say, except for: thank you for following me so far and supporting me through all the years I've been on here. I don't know how you guys are not bored of my shenanigans, heheheheh.
For now I'm just going to breathe, not go insane and enjoy my blissful freedom.
